A full re design of the Wayo safari’s Serengeti Green camp. All items were sourced within Tanzania. Most furniture I designed and had made with local “Fundhi’s”.
I tried to incorporate as many local traditional and tribal items and artefacts as possible. All handles are from the Datoga tribe and are hand forged embossed brass bracelets.
The bedside tables are made from Fagio brooms. Each table has over 50 brooms in it.
The pendants in the bedrooms are made from Chagga ( a local tribe) wedding cups. We used 14 cups in each piece. The handles were beaded by hand and the cups had holes drilled in them to let the lights through.
All items needed to be packed up every few months and transported to new sites with the migration. Everything also needed to be made to withstand the climate and animals that could potentially eat them!
The bathroom was made completely out of a locally made Greenwood. This is a recycled plastic product made to mimic wood but withstand the elements.
A full re design of the Wayo safari’s Serengeti Walking camp. All items were sourced within Tanzania. Most furniture I designed and had made with local “Fundhi’s”.
The colours of the camp are inspired by the Serengeti and nature. We used local grass baskets as lampshades for the mess pendant.
We also commissioned a beautiful walking stick light feature. Made from hand carved sticks of varying heights, with beaded sections and lights throughout.
